CMU-A Public Policy and Management students are invited to a special Roundtable Discussion on “Effectiveness in Policymaking” with Dr Ben Diokno, the Minister for Budget and Management of the Government of the Philippines on Wednesday, 23 May 2018.
About The Speaker
Dr Ben Diokno is among the top three economic executives in the administration of Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, chiefly responsible for the formulation of fiscal policies and disbursement of public expenditures. He has served the Government of the Philippines in various capacities including as Chairman and CEO of the Philippine National Oil Company and Chairman of the Local Water Utilities Administration. He has spearheaded policy reforms in the Philippines including reducing the scope of government, tax reform, deregulation, privatization, decentralization, medium-term budgeting and procurement reform. He has served as senior adviser/consultant of the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, European Commission, and USAID. Dr Diokno graduated with a Ph.D. in Economics from Syracuse University, an MA in Political Economy from Johns Hopkins University, and a BA and MA in Public Administration and Economics from the University of the Philippines.
