Downer-Rann Scholarships

The scholarships are established in honour of Alexander Downer AC and Mike Rann AC, two individuals who championed the establishment of Carnegie Mellon University in Australia.

Mr Downer was the country's longest serving Foreign Minister (from 1996 to 2007) and sponsored the legislative reform that enabled CMU to establish its Asia-Pacific campus in Adelaide.  Mr Rann was the Premier of South Australia from 2002 to 2011 who spearheaded the creation of the state's international university precinct in which CMU became the first international university to establish a campus in Australia.
