Dream Job and Career Change comes from CMU Australia Degree

Posted 10th September 2019

A desire to change careers and use his marketing skills to ‘make a difference’ was the driving force behind Ignacio Bosch in choosing to study at Carnegie Mellon University in Australia.

A middle management executive with a large Argentinian company, Ignacio knew he needed to undertake further studies to enable him to pursue a dream career in the social enterprise sector.

So, after a global search, Ignacio chose a Masters degree at Carnegie Mellon University, moved to Adelaide, and embarked on an exciting life journey.

“My dream was to pursue a career where my work had real purpose, where I could positively impact on people’s lives and wellbeing”, said Ignacio Bosch.

“But to make the transition from a brand marketing role, I knew I’d have to go back to school.”

Carnegie Mellon University’s Masters degree was the perfect choice for me as it offered subjects in quantitative policy, leadership development, information technology and applying data analytics to solve problems and tackle complex policy issues.

“I was also impressed by the student project opportunities, internship program and career service support offered by the University.

“Indeed, thanks to my internship, I secured a permanent employment opportunity with my host Kudos Services before I’d graduated.

“I can proudly say today, just 2 years on, I’m putting my marketing skills to good use, helping an important charity play a key role in the full roll-out of a critical national policy, the newly established National Disability Insurance Scheme.

“And most importantly, I’m achieving my dream of making a difference for young people!” he said.

Ignacio graduated from CMU Australia in May 2019 with highest distinction.

Kudos Services is Australia’s first Public Service Mutual formed as part of the Commonwealth Government’s new National Disability Insurance Scheme. The organisation’s aim is to empower children and young people with a disability or developmental delay to achieve positive outcomes that support them to reach their full potential.
