The Philippine Ambassador to Australia, Her Excellency Minda Calaguian-Cruz, visited CMU Australia on 28 March 2017.

The Philippine Ambassador to Australia, Her Excellency Minda Calaguian-Cruz, visited CMU Australia on 28 March 2017.  Executive Director and Distinguished Service Professor Emil Bolongaita led the CMU-A group that  welcomed the delegation, including Ambassador Calaguian-Cruz, Philippine Honorary Consul General Mark McBriarty, other VIPs as well as guests from University of Adelaide and Flinders University. 

Prior to her current appointment, Ambassador Calaguian-Cruz held various diplomatic roles including Assistant Secretary for the Office of Asian and Pacific Affairs, Philippine Ambassador to Singapore, Chief Coordinator for the Office of the Secretary of Foreign Affairs and Consulate General of the Philippine Embassy in Hong Kong.

During her visit to CMU Australia, Ambassador Calaguian-Cruz talked about the strong trade and diplomatic ties between the Philippines and Australia.  A passionate educator and an ex-Colombo Plan scholar, Ambassador Calaguian-Cruz also praised the Australia government’s New Colombo Plan program which supports many young Australians to experienceliving and studying in Asia-Pacific countries.  She believed such academic exchange will further strengthen the people to people relationsbetween the two countries.
