After 40 years working in the private and public sectors, Tim O’Loughlin returned to university where his career started in 1975. At CMU-A Tim has designed and taught courses in Strategic Planning, Organization Behavior, Policy Analysis, Public Finance, Policy Analytics, Public Private Partnerships (PPP), Direct Democracy and Environmental Policy. He has also supervised numerous individual and group research projects, some of which have been published in various forms. He prides himself on adding a practical dimension to the academic content of these courses. For example, Tim has been able to draw upon is practical experience as the head of South Australia’s Transport Department for his work on PPPs while his course on Environmental Policy applies the lessons learnt from his appointment as South Australia’s Commissioner for Renewable Energy.
Tim is committed to learning through contestable and reasoned deliberation. He enjoys nothing more than challenging and being challenged. In the same spirit, he is also an addict of the card game known as bridge. Tim is passionate about culture and history and has been involved in various appointments including Chair of the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, Chair of State Opera and a member of the Australian Council for the Arts.
