The Graduate Certificate in BIDA is a program designed for mid-career professionals or students who have already received a Bachelor’s degree in approved fields to upgrade their qualifications and provide advanced practical skills required in data science.
Our hybrid learning program makes it possible for you to earn a graduate certificate from Carnegie Mellon, ranked No. 1 in Information Technology & Management by US News & World Report since 2005. With our asynchronous, anytime/anywhere delivery model, you don’t need to leave your current job or relocate to our Adelaide campus for your graduate studies.
The Graduate Certificate in BIDA can help to upgrade qualifications and provide advanced practical skills required in data science. The certificate is ideal for mid-career professionals or students who have already received a Bachelor’s degree in approved fields. We offer a rigorous curriculum and provide video-captured lectures from our campus classes so that you’re guaranteed access to the same world-class faculty and up-to-date content offered to our campus students. You’ll also interact directly with our renowned faculty, adjunct instructors, teaching assistants and staff throughout the program. All core courses from the certificate will also be available as regular in-class courses and students will have the option of attending regular lectures at the Carnegie Mellon University's campus in Adelaide.
Work That Matters
The program requires 48 units over three terms between January-December which include 36 units of core courses and 12 units of electives from any available Heinz College courses.
For successful completion, you must achieve a cumulative quality point average (QPA) of at least 3.0.
If you have a strong background in any of the required courses, you can receive an exemption by passing the exemption exam. If a course does not offer an exemption exam, you will need permission of the instructor. Exempting a course doesn’t reduce the required number of courses you must complete. However, you can add more elective courses to expand your knowledge base.
Students who wish to enrol in the Master of Science in Information Technology program after successful completion of the Graduate Certificate in BIDA will automatically gain credits for the 48 units completed in the Graduate Certificate. Additionally, they will need to meet the normal admissions requirements for our Masters program.
